RD#1 @ Palm Desert RC Raceway

2012 GRASS ROOTS RACING SERIES

The Opening round of the GRRS started this past weekend at
Palm Desert RC Raceway and it couldn’t have been a nicer weekend for racing!

Saturday is Electric day and with 108 entries it was sure to
be a competitive day on the newly built Levi Jackson / SIC track Designs  layout.

The new format allows new classes for 2012 and made for some
great racing.

The always popular 12 & Under kids class was full of
smiles and youngsters ready to race. Little Ben was our youngest to race
(I believe he is all of 5 yrs old) and he did a great job! Plenty of first time racers as that’s what the GRRS is all
about.

Our GRRS Annoucer, Tim Allen did a great job keeping
everyone informed and on pace to keep the day moving smoothly.

The PDRCR  track crew kept  the track watered on a regular basis and the
new addition of some dirt made the racing surface smooth and very fun to race
on.

14 heats and some pretty happy racers made for a great
racing day on Saturday.

Sunday is Nitro day for the GRRS and with the abundant
sunshine it looked to be another great day of racing. The attendance was a
little light but with MANY new faces in attendance I think there will be some
new devoted racers attending the remaing 7 races to get those all important
bonus points by attending all 8 races in the series.

Again this year there are several new classes added to accomadate
different skill levels and get more racers involved.

Some of the faster 1/8 buggy racers in attendance were our
current Ifmar WC, Cody King,  Danny
Flores, Prez Ilog, Don V, Mike Labanko (Yes he is out of retirment) Along with
the local track fast guys, Chris Marrale, John Gaines and  Dillion Hoffman.

Again the track provided a competitve surface to get around
in the 22-24 second range for the faster racers.

soon be posted along with the race results!

Well in less then 2 weeks we kick off the 2012 GRRS racing season
